Scientists create DNA ‘brain’ in a test tube

Raw Story

A research team at the California Institute of Technology has created an artificial neural network which is capable of solving a puzzle that involves identifying which of four pioneering IT scientists -- Rosalind Franklin, Alan Turing, Claude Shannon, and Santiago Ramon y Cajal -- is described by a series of yes/no questions.

DNA molecules were used to form four artificial neurons in test tubes, with each strange of DNA being programmed to interact with other strands in a manner similar to the firing of natural neurons in living creatures. At its best, the network was able to answer questions even when it had only incomplete information...[Full Article]

Big Brother is watching you: The town where EVERY car is tracked by police cameras

UK Daily Mail

A sleepy Home Counties market town has become the first in Britain to have every car passing through it tracked by police cameras.

Royston, in Hertfordshire, has had a set of police cameras installed on every road leading in and out of it, recording the numberplate of every vehicle that passes them.

The automatic number-plate recognition system will check the plates against a variety of databases, studying them for links to crimes, and insurance and tax records, and alerting police accordingly.

There were just seven incidents of vehicle crime in the town last month, and residents believe the unmarked cameras are an invasion of their privacy...[Full Article]
Chinese rush to buy US land

ChinaDaily.com.ca

One Chinese office worker paid $8,800 through an online auction by chance and bought 1,000 square meters of land in Miami of US, the Guangzhou Daily reported on Wednesday.

The Florida-based seller, United Solutions of American LLC, said the land belonged to a company near bankruptcy.

Zhuang Nuo, the auction host from Chinese property agency Soufun International, said the land seller also put 100 pieces of 1,000 sq m land up for auction and will offer 30 US investment immigration application forms for the Chinese group buyers who spend more than $200,000.

The 100 pieces of land sold out on July 22 from 73 Chinese buyers. One of them bought 20 pieces.

More proof the Department of Homeland Security and TSA are actively destroying America

Madison Ruppert,

July 30, 2011

While the deadline for the end of the political circus that is the debt ceiling debate rapidly approaches, the American government continues to flush millions of taxpayer dollars down the toilet.

One could easily set aside the almost never ending invasions of privacy carried out by the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration goons and still have a strong case against these cancerous government bodies.

One could also set aside the health implications and rapid rise in cancer associated with their pet naked body scanning technologies.

To make matters even more ridiculous, one can even set aside the cases of molestation, harassment, and drug trafficking at the hands of the TSA while still being able to build an iron-clad case against them.

In previous articles I have detailed just one of the ways the TSA and DHS are tearing apart theConstitution and the most basic fabric of American society through the eradication of our right to privacy and protection from unlawful searches.

However, in this article I am going to detail some of the ways that the DHS is actively engaging in economic warfare against the people of the United States while lining their own pockets and those of their cronies at the helms of various corporations.

The most recent example is this: despite our teetering on the age of a possible default thanks to the clowns in Washington, $72 million in our non-existent tax dollars have been guaranteed to Lockheed Martin by the TSA.

This sum was given in exchange for more naked body scanners, which have a proven track record of health dangers and invasions of privacy.

The imaging machines which just happen to take completely nude, almost pornographic images that can be removed from the monitoring station for later “use” are going to be rolled out to an additional 300 airports.

Just when you thought you found your favorite airport that doesn’t use the radiation bathing machines, the TSA stepped in and spent our money on helping to ensure that you will never be able to avoid them.

This is just the beginning of the Department of Homeland Security’s economic destruction; earlier this month the DHS announced a plan to obtain 400 new scanners in addition to the hundreds already in operation.

How much money will the American taxpayer have to provide for this expansion of the highly contested scanners? Only a measly $300 million! What a steal!

Well, it might be if you’re one of the filthy rich executives of Lockheed Martin, but for the rest of America this spending will only compound our overwhelming debt problem.

It is worth noting that one of the advisors to the Department of Homeland Security just happens to be none other than Norman “Norm” Augustine, Former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Lockheed Martin corporation.

Augustine had served as assistant director of defense research and engineering to the Secretary of Defense and both assistant secretary and under secretary of the Army among other so-called “distinctions,” according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Of course some of the completely ignorant or hopelessly propagandized people of America might think that this is completely okay since he no longer is CEO or Chairman and now all he does is lobby the DHS to give contracts to Lockheed Martin. Why is this acceptable? Why is a former CEO who unarguably has strong ties with his former corporation allowed to “advise” the DHS and clearly influence their spending?

The American people should be able to kick every corporate lobbyist in Washington. Every single so-called advisor and politician with ties to corporations needs to be removed from positions of influence.

Without ensuring that we do not have corporate lobbyists influencing contracting and who they are issued to, we will continue to see our tax money spent on useless, unwanted, and unnecessary projects. Why do the people of America not have control over our own money? Why are we just sitting back while the fascist corporate-government oligarchy robs us blind?

Our so-called representatives in Washington are just watching this happen, evidenced by the fact that the TSA purchased and installed 450 naked body scanners in March 2010 using funds from a stimulus package enacted by congress in 2009. The package, called the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, was looted in order to hand over even more money to the corporations that are actively destroying America. To call this an effort to reinvest in America and assist in the economic recovery is nothing short of laughable. This is just one of the more recent examples, and there are several instances going back over the years.

Before the naked body scanners were purchased and put into operation (which just happened to make Michael Chertoff a ton of money), the TSA attempted to use “puffer machines” from General Electric and Smiths Detection. In 2004 the TSA purchased $30 million worth, or only 207 units, of these faulty machines without any real prior testing. Had they rigorously tested units before signing us on to $30 million in additional debt, they would have realized that the devices were easily clogged by dust and even more importantly easily confused by jet fuel fumes or humidity. If the units were properly tested, as any product should be before the government spends tens of millions on it, it would have come to the surface that the unreliable devices would cost an additional $48,000 in operating costs on top of the $150,000 device itself in order to be accurate. The program was stopped in 2006 and tossed by the wayside in favor of the full-body scanners.

According to the Washington Post, the Transportation Security Administration has spent about $14 billion in over 20,900 contracts with defense companies since the TSA’s creation in 2001. In 2010, the TSA requested more than $1.3 billion in taxpayer money to fund additional airport screening methods.

Even some government bodies have pointed out the massive incompetence and willy-nilly spending sprees the TSA and DHS engage in. The Government Accountability Office or GAO pointed out that the TSA has “not conducted a risk assessment or cost-benefit analysis, or established quantifiable performance measures” on the new technologies they purchase. This means that they spend the money without even knowing if it enhances security in any way.

If this isn’t proof of the marriage of government and the corporate world and the destruction it is wreaking upon our nation and our nation’s economy, I don’t know what is.

It is not only the GAO that is getting fed up with the TSA and their absurd spending policies. Congressman John Mica, who helped create the TSA, said, “Everywhere I turn, I’m appalled at what’s taking place.” He further adds, “We’ve created an agency that’s run pell-mell away from security and turned into a huge, unthinking, non-risk based bureaucracy.”

He called most of the spending carried out by the TSA through their behemoth $80 billion budget as “idiotic.” Congressman Mica could not be more accurate; as the TSA has reported at least 25,000 security breaches since the 9/11 terror attacks in American airports.

This is an indication of the complete failure and mismanagement of the agency, not an indication that we need to give them more money. This fallacious argument has been made time and time again, regardless of the massive logical holes.

If there wasn’t enough damning evidence of the rampant corporatism and corruption in these departments, the threat made to Congressman Jason Chaffetz by the DHS regarding his discussion of the 25,000 breaches since 9/11 is another indication that something is seriously wrong here.

Nothing short of the entirety of America stepping back and noticing the over-arching trend of wealth redistribution from the people to the elite carried out by corporations and their government cronies can stop this. Without all of America demanding that our money be accounted for and only spent when and where we decide it should be, the DHS and TSA will continue to economically rape our nation.

Without even covering the invasions of privacy, humiliation, enabling of drug trafficking, molestation, etc. the TSA and DHS have given us enough evidence to criminally convict the corrupt individuals behind the contracting decisions.

Americans should stop blindly accepting government spending and start making it clear to our supposed representatives in Washington that we will no longer stand for the continuation of these practices that serve only the banksters who issue us the debt and the corporations to whom the money is funneled.

Exclusive: ATF Intimidates Gun Owners With Home Visits

Federal agency attempts to make firearms retailers spy on their customers under new illegal directive

Exclusive: ATF Intimidates Gun Owners With Home Visits 090519 gunstore ap 297

Even as it finds itself embroiled in a scandal that saw weapons being deliberately sent to criminal gangs in Mexico, the ATF has issued a letter ordering firearms dealers in border states to report sales of two or more semi-automatic rifles, and is following it up by harassing gun owners with intimidating home visits as well as threatening gun dealers to spy on their customers.

As the Justice Department announced earlier this month, “All gun shops in four Southwest border states (Texas, California, Arizona and New Mexico) will be required to alert the federal government to frequent buyers of high-powered rifles.”

The ATF letter also orders gun dealers to report to the feds sales of “two or more pistols or revolvers, or any combination of pistols or revolvers totaling two or more.”

The letter, which was subsequently sent out to gun dealers and has since entered the public domain, orders firearms retailers to “Submit to ATF reports of multiple sales or other dispositions whenever, at one time or during any five consecutive business days, you sell to an unlicensed person or otherwise dispose of two or more semi-automatic rifles capable of accepting a detachable magazine and with a caliber greater than .22 (including .223/5.56 caliber).” The directive takes effect from August 14, 2011.

However, what the federal agency isn’t keen to make public is how its agents are using these reports to make threatening home visits to firearms owners, while ordering gun store owners to become de facto informants by telling them to spy on their customers.

According to several gun dealers in Austin as well as one of our own staff members, the ATF is visiting people’s homes, demanding to be allowed inside without a warrant, and implying that gun owners could be terrorists for purchasing two or more firearms at a time.

Illustrating how lawless this is, a central Texas gun dealer who provided Alex Jones with the ATF letter, contacted Daniel Jones, the head of the ATF in Austin two weeks before receiving the letter to ask about news reports that President Obama was going to order the investigation of citizens that bought two or more rifles. Agent Jones told him “no that law is not going to pass, and we can’t enforce something that isn’t law so don’t worry about it.” Of course, the law didn’t pass but the ATF later enforced it anyway.

This is all based on a directive from the federal government that is completely outside of the law and unconstitutional. The law that would have required gun dealers in border states to report sales of two or more semi-automatic rifles to the ATF was “stripped entirely from the text of the regulation” when it came up for a vote in Congress on April 15, but as part of the Obama administration’s dictatorial zeal to accomplish its agenda outside of the law, the program is going ahead anyway.

The federal government is enforcing a law that was never passed.

Read the letter the ATF is sending out to gun stores below (click to enlarge).

Americans who purchase guns are already forced to undergo checks against the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System to prove they are not a criminal. The ATF’s new unconstitutional directive only adds an extra layer of bureaucracy, putting a further squeeze on second amendment rights while creating a logistical nightmare for firearms retailers.

The letter orders retailers to report each sale of two or more weapons before the end of the same business day, requiring them to fill in a form for each sale that takes over 10 minutes to complete. This extra burden will create hundreds of extra necessary man hours for every gun store per year, and could even put the smaller ones out of business.

The ATF’s intimidation campaign directed against firearms dealers and gun owners is all unfolding while the organization simultaneously comes under scrutiny for the infamous Operation Fast and Furious, a BATF program that. “Sanctioned the purchase of weapons in U.S. gun shops and tracked the smuggling route to the Mexican border. Reportedly, more than 2,500 firearms were sold to straw buyers who then handed off the weapons to gunrunners under the nose of ATF.” Some of the weapons were later used to kill US Border Patrol agents like Brian Terry.

After being caught sending weapons to Mexican criminals that were used to kill U.S. Border Patrol agents, police and citizens, the ATF is now treating American citizens like criminals simply for exercising their second amendment rights, all under the guise of a regulation that was rejected by Congress and never became law.

The Obama administration and the ATF claim that the Fast and Furious program was part of a sting operation to catch leading Mexican drug runners, and yet it’s admitted that the government stopped tracking the firearms as soon as they reached the border, defeating the entire object of the mission, unless the mission was about pushing through gun control in the US and had nothing to do with the drug war.

As the evidence clearly indicates, Operation Fast and Furious was likely a plot on behalf of the administration to discredit the second amendment. While the feds were selling guns to Mexican drug gangs, Obama was simultaneously blaming drug violence on the flow of guns from border states to Mexico.

The ATF’s efforts to intimidate both gun sellers and purchasers also arrives months after President Obama told gun control advocate Sarah Brady that his administration was working “under the radar” to sneak attack the second amendment.

During a March 30 meeting between Jim and Sarah Brady and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, at which Obama “dropped in,” the president reportedly told Brady, “I just want you to know that we are working on it (gun control)….We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”

The quote appeared in an April 11 Washington Post story about Obama’s gun control czar Steve Croley.

The name of the gun shop owner who provided us with the ATF letter is withheld because he doesn’t want to face recriminations from a notoriously vindictive agency.

Psycho Canton Cop Involved In ANOTHER Incident in 2010 Threatening to Kill People

Video: Officer Harless also lost temper on earlier arrest

Canton Repository

The circumstances of the incidents differ: One, from June, involves a driver with a license to carry a concealed gun. The other, from July of last year, concerns a backseat passenger without the legal right to be armed in a vehicle.

But they both include video of patrolman Daniel Harless using profanity and threats during an early morning traffic stop.

Police Chief Dean McKimm said he will review the results of both investigations and forward them to the safety director as one package because of the related subject matter. The chief expected to have the necessary information in a couple of weeks.

Harless, a 14-year department veteran, remains on sick leave...[Full Article]

TSA readying new behavior detection plan for airport checkpoints

Politico

The federal government is planning to introduce new behavior detection techniques at airport checkpoints as soon as next month, Transportation Security Administration chief John Pistole said Thursday.

TSA already has "behavior detection officers" at 161 airports nationwide looking for travelers exhibiting physiological or psychological signs that a traveler might be a terrorist. However, Pistole said TSA is preparing to move to an approach that employs more conversation with travelers—a method that has been employed with great success in Israel...[Full Article]

Lockheed Martin Wins $72 Million Contract To Install Body Scanners

Lockheed Martin Wins $72 Million Contract To Install Body Scanners Leigh+Bauman+TSA+Demonstrates+Full+Body+Scanners+Zywcnz5WyV l

Even as the US economy teeters on the brink of default, the federal government has handed a $72 million dollar contract to defense contractor Lockheed Martin to install radiation-firing body scanners at 300 more airports across the east and central United States, despite the availability of devices that do not rely on radiation to function.

“Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has been awarded two regional task orders totalling $72 million to help TSA integrate and deploy new passenger screening and security equipment at airports across the east and central United States,” states the press release.

The defense contractor is virtually tied at the hip with the U.S. government, receiving tens of billions of dollars in contracts every year, and has a substantial lobbying budget which is used to support Congress members and Senators who “advocate national defense and relevant business issues.”

Despite the TSA’s recent announcement that it plans to install a “privacy friendly” software update that will dispense with images that show intricate details of a person’s naked body, the devices will continue to use radiation in order to function.

This is a completely unnecessary health risk given the fact that Sony Corporation is already using scanners that don’t rely on any form of energy being fired into the body to work, instead using “passive energy” to produce an image that also shows a generic outline of a person’s body.

In addition, Australian airports have begun trialing body scanning technology that neither emits any form of radiation, nor produces a naked image of the person passing through it.

The $72 million Lockheed Martin contract only mentions software upgrades to existing Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) devices, the company will not be developing body scanners that protect travelers from health threats that have been identified by numerous prestigious scientific bodies.

Numerous highly respected universities and health bodies, including Johns Hopkins, Columbia University, the University of California, and the Inter-Agency Committee on Radiation Safety, have all warned that the health threat posed by the scanners has not been properly studied and could lead to increased cancer rates.

Despite the TSA lying in claiming that Johns Hopkins had verified the safety of the scanners, Dr Michael Love, who runs an X-ray lab at the department of biophysics and biophysical chemistry at the Johns Hopkins school of medicine, has publicly warned that “statistically someone is going to get skin cancer from these X-rays”.

A study conducted last year by Dr David Brenner, head of Columbia University’s center for radiological research, also found that the body scanners are likely to lead to an increase in a common type of skin cancer called basal cell carcinoma, which affects the head and neck.

As we reported earlier this month, leaked documents published by the Electronic Privacy Information Center revealed how TSA workers became concerned over a “cancer cluster” amongst screening agents at Boston Logan International Airport, and how the federal agency tried to cover-up the complaints.

Bill Approved To Create Massive Surveillance Database Of Internet Users

Bill Approved To Create Massive Surveillance Database Of Internet Users 130711internet2

Legislation that will force Internet providers to store information on all their customers and share it with the federal government and law enforcement agencies was significantly beefed at the last minute yesterday and approved by a U.S. House of Representatives committee.

Under the guise of protecting children from internet pornographers, the House Judiciary committee voted 19-10 to approve a bill that will require Internet Service Providers to store temporarily assigned IP addresses for future government use.

In addition, the bill was re-written yesterday to also include the enforced retention of customers’ names, addresses, phone numbers, credit card numbers and bank account numbers.

As Declan McCullagh of CNet reports, the panel rejected an amendment that would have clarified that only IP addresses must be stored.

“The bill is mislabeled,” said Rep. John Conyers of Michigan, the senior Democrat on the panel. “This is not protecting children from Internet pornography. It’s creating a database for everybody in this country for a lot of other purposes.”

It represents “a data bank of every digital act by every American” that would “let us find out where every single American visited Web sites,” said Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who led Democratic opposition to the bill. The Californian Representative described the legislation as a “mess of a bill” and a “stalking horse for a massive expansion of federal power”.

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., noted that the bill would open a Pandora’s box of government abuse.

“This is not about child porn. It never has been and never will be,” Issa said. “This is a convenient way for law enforcement to get what they couldn’t get in the PATRIOT Act.”

Advocates for the legislation include the National Sheriffs’ Association, which has said it “strongly supports” mandatory data retention. The bill has also attracted endorsements from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, as well as the FBI.

In a last ditch effort to derail the bill, the ACLU, along with dozens of other privacy watchdog groups penned a letter (PDF) to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith earlier this week, noting that “any data retention mandate is a direct assault on bedrock privacy principles.”

“The data retention mandate in this bill would treat every Internet user like a criminal and threaten the online privacy and free speech rights of every American, as lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have recognized,” Senior Staff Attorney Kevin Bankston of the Electronic Frontier Foundation said.

“Requiring Internet companies to redesign and reconfigure their systems to facilitate government surveillance of Americans’ expressive activities is simply un-American. Such a scheme would be as objectionable to our Founders as the requiring of licenses for printing presses or the banning of anonymous pamphlets.” Bankston added.

“This is China-style law enforcement, treating everyone as a potential suspect and requiring the collection of personal information just in case it might later be useful to the government,” said Greg Nojeim, senior counsel for the Washington based Center for Democracy and Technology, in an interview with Bloomberg.

A fortnight ago, the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) appealed before the House Judiciary Committee, asking that Congress recognize the fact that retaining identifying information would put at risk “99.9% of Internet users.”

EPIC President Marc Rotenberg pointed out that it is more prudent to seek data minimization rather than data retention, in the wake of increased risk of data breaches and identity theft. Rotenberg noted that enforced data retention would make ISPs more vulnerable to hackers, citing the LulzSec group, which recently claimed responsibility for temporarily shutting down a CIA website and other high-profile hacks.

“Minimizing stored user data reduces incentives for hackers to attack data storage systems by reducing the amount of data available to steal. Minimization also reduces the costs of data breaches,” Rotenberg said in prepared testimony.

Rotenberg suggested that the data could be used to bring criminal charges that were unrelated to child pornography, noting that any mandatory retention of data would be accessible to police investigating any crime.

“Although this data retention requirement has been introduced as part of a bill focused on child sexual exploitation, there is no evidence to suggest that the majority of law enforcement requests for customer subscriber information relate to child protection cases.” Rotenberg argued.

The bill would also allow access to the data by attorneys litigating civil disputes in divorce, insurance fraud, and other cases that have nothing to do with the protection of children on the internet.

“It would give the government sweeping authority to mandate the collection and retention of personal information obtained by business from their customers, or generated by the business in the course of providing services, for subsequent examination without any reason to believe that information is relevant or necessary for a criminal investigation,” Rotenberg further testified.

Rep. Bobby Scott, D-Va., had proposed an amendment to the bill that would have limited use of the data to child-pornography or terrorism cases, but it was withdrawn at the last minute, as Lamar Smith claimed that limiting the use of the information to child-pornography investigations could “undermine current cases on other issues”.

Rep. Scott also attempted to add an amendment to allocate $45 million a year to pay for more than 200 additional federal investigators and prosecutors dedicated to child pornography cases. Clearly a real move to crack down on child porn peddlers was unwelcome, however, as this too was struck down by committee members who claimed the funding wasn’t available.

The legislation, with all it’s privacy stripping measures intact, will now be scheduled for a full House debate.

Theft is on the rise in a worsening economy

(NaturalNews) It is not strange to hear about cars, jewelry or money being stolen. These days, desperate thieves are choosing bizarre targets: copper wires, air conditioning units, storm drain covers, grapes, ambulances, pain killers and even bees. This petty thievery of agricultural goods and odd supplies is the new norm in a rapidly worsening economy where unemployment is rampant.

The downturn in the economy and record unemployment numbers have created a heightened sense of desperation, which subsequently is leading to a rapid increase in crime levels all over the country.

Air conditioning units in churches have literally been cut loose from their hookups in Houston, Philadelphia, other cities and small towns all over. More than 100 storm drain covers have been stolen in Sacramento in recent weeks. Jackson, MO police are investigating an onslaught of recent robberies targeting various delivery drivers...[Full Article]
GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt, The Head Of Obama’s Jobs Council, Is Moving Jobs And Economic Infrastructure To China At A Blistering Pace

The Economic Collapse Blog

Jeffrey Immelt, the head of Barack Obama's highly touted "Jobs Council", is moving even more GE infrastructure to China. GE makes more medical-imaging machines than anyone else in the world, and now GE has announced that it "is moving the headquarters of its 115-year-old X-ray business to Beijing". Apparently, this is all part of a "plan to invest about $2 billion across China" over the next few years. But moving core pieces of its business overseas is nothing new for GE. Under Immelt, GE has shipped tens of thousands of good jobs out of the United States. Perhaps GE should change its slogan to "Imagination At Work (In China)". If the very people that have been entrusted with solving the unemployment crisis are shipping jobs out of the country, what hope is there that things are going to turn around any time soon? 'Humiliated': Pauline Spoor with her electronic tag

When her loyal labrador became old, frail and slow, pensioner Pauline Spoor simply couldn’t bear to have him put down.

Living alone, she relied on the constant companionship of 18-year-old Dexter, who although suffering from severe arthritis and conjunctivitis, would sit quietly by her feet.

But while Mrs Spoor accepts her devotion to her sickly pet was misguided, it has brought a draconian response from authorities which has left her shocked, humiliated and, she says, treated like a common yob.

The 71-year-old was this week hauled before the courts where, convicted of animal cruelty, she was ordered to wear an electronic tag on her ankle as part of a three-month curfew.

And the grandmother has been warned that if she breaks the community order, which forbids her leaving her house at night, she could even be sent to prison. Yesterday Mrs Spoor said: ‘I know I’ve done wrong but I feel absolutely humiliated at having to wear a tag as if I am some common criminal. It just seems so over the top...[Full Article]

Ghost towns on the increase as rural America accounts for just 16% of population

UK Daily Mail
  • Migration will form a virtual mega-city stretching through Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Baltimore, Maryland and ending in the capital Washington D.C.
  • In 1910 72% of Americans lived in rural areas
Vast swathes of the U.S. countryside are emptying and communities becoming ghost towns as rural America now only accounts for just 16 per cent of the population.

The 2010 census results suggest that by 2050 many of these areas could shrink to virtually nothing as businesses collapse and schools close.

This dramatic population implosion is the culmination of a century of migration to cities, as in 1910 the share of rural America was at 72 per cent.

Blackout: This official graphic shows dominant U.S. urban areas, marked in white, while large swathes of rural areas are becoming darker as people move away

In 1950 the countryside remained home to a majority of Americans, amid post-World War II economic expansion and the baby boom.
However, once busy areas have been abandoned, in South Dakota for example, the town of Scenic is up for sale for $799,000 as today just eight people live there.

Overall the share of people in rural areas over the past decade fell to 16 percent, passing the previous low of 20 percent in 2000, and is expected to drop further because of the economic crisis.

But in contrast American cities are booming and will continue to swallow suburban communities, producing a virtual mega-city stretching through Boston, Massachusetts, through New York City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Baltimore, Maryland and ending in the capital Washington, D.C.

'Some of the most isolated rural areas face a major uphill battle, with a broad area of the country emptying out,' said Mark Mather, associate vice president of the Population Reference Bureau, a research group in Washington, D.C.

'Many rural areas can't attract workers because there aren't any jobs, and businesses won't relocate there because there aren't enough qualified workers. So they are caught in a downward spiral.'

The rural share is expected to drop further as the U.S. population balloons from 309 million to 400 million by 2050, leading even more people to crowd cities and suburbs and fill in the land around them...[Full Article]
Busting Posse Comitatus: Military Cops Arrest Civilians in Florida City

In Homestead, Florida, Posse Comitatus is dead. The Air Force now responds to civilian crime in the small city, population around 30,000.

photoMilitary “crime stoppers” violate Posse Comitatus in Florida. Photo from Homestead ARB website.

“Here at Homestead Air Reserve Base we have the Crime Stop hotline that allows anyone either on base or off the installation to anonymously report a crime,” explains the Homestead Air Reserve Base website. “If you know of a crime that has been committed, if you see a crime in progress, or if you see a suspicious person, vehicle, or situation that makes you feel a crime may be occurring, call the Security Forces Crime Stop Hotline…”

On July 15, military police – known as Security Forces patrolmen – detained a criminal suspect at a Circle K in until Miami-Dade police arrived.

“Crime prevention is everyone’s responsibility, the better informed we are the safer we can make the installation and the surrounding community,” said t. Juan Lemus, Security Forces Police Services Chief.

Crime prevention off military bases is the responsibility of civilian police, not the military. In 1878, following Reconstruction, the Posse Comitatus Act was passed. It limited the powers of the federal government to use the military for law enforcement. The statute prohibits Army and Air Force personnel and units of the National Guard under federal authority from acting in a law enforcement capacity within the United States, except where expressly authorized by the Constitution or Congress.

Infowars.com has reported numerous violations of Posse Comitatus since September 11, 2001.

In 2009, the National Guard provided “security” in Kingman, Arizona. The Coast Guard, under the Department of Homeland Security, is now exempt from the Act.

The military participated in a checkpoint along with Tennessee cops and Homeland Security in April of 2009. The governor and state representatives were not aware of the illegal collaboration when contacted by the Alex Jones Show.

In 2008, the Marine Corps Air and Ground Combat Center and the California Highway Patrol used the Christmas holiday as an excuse to collaborate on a drunk driving checkpoint in San Bernardino County.

Following a shooting in Alabama, the Army was dispatched from Fort Rucker to patrol the streets of Samson in 2009.

Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl called in the National guard to help in “domestic” disputes in 2009. Ravenstahl used a snow emergency as an excuse. He went on television and said “be advised that you will begin to see National Guard Humvees in some of your neighborhoods beginning this evening.”

The above represents just a small sampling of the military violating Posse Comitatus. The Act was violated in earnest following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The devastating storm proved to be a beta test for military violations of the law.

NORTHCOM announced in 2008 it would use battle-hardened troops from Iraq for “civil unrest and crowd control” in the United States. On September 30, 2008, the Pentagon announced the 3rd Infantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team would be an “on-call federal response force for natural or manmade emergencies and disasters, including terrorist attacks,” the Army Times reported.

The mission soon expanded from disasters to every day police activity.

The firewall between military and civilian police duties was demolished with the passage of H.R. 5122, also known as the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007. It allowed the president to declare martial law under revisions to the Insurrection Act, and take charge of United States National Guard troops without state governor authorization when public order has been lost and the state and its constituted authorities cannot enforce the law.

The bill was repealed in 2008, but this has not stopped the military, numerous federal agencies, and the Department of Homeland Security from blurring the distinctions between military, federal and local police responsibilities.

According to John R. Brinkerhoff, acting associate director for national preparedness of FEMA from 1981 to 1983, “the Posse Comitatus Act is not only irrelevant but also downright dangerous to the proper and effective use of military forces for domestic duties.”

Brinkerhoff cites the Quadrennial Defense Review for 2001 that has declared homeland security to be the primary mission of the Department of Defense.

Brinkerhoff is a longtime martial law advocate. He borrowed his ideas on martial law from then FEMA director, Louis O. Guiffrida. In 1970 at the Army War College, Guiffrida outlined his plan for martial law in case of a national uprising by black militants. The paper advocated the roundup and transfer to “assembly centers or relocation camps” of at least 21 million “American Negroes,” the Miami Herald reported on July 5, 1987, during the Iran-Contra hearings.

Canceling Posse Comitatus is not about a benevolent Pentagon helping strapped local officials and over-burdened local cops save people from car accidents or the ravages of hurricanes and tornadoes. It has little to do with rioting “Negroes.”

It’s about imposing martial law. Propaganda campaigns portraying uniformed soldiers wielding the jaws of life soften people up for the presence of troops on the streets. Military checkpoints in California and Tennessee have nothing to do with drunk drivers or seat belts. They acclimate the public to soldiers manning checkpoints like they do in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Quadrennial Defense Review for 2001′s declaration that homeland security is the primary mission of the Department of Defense is particularly dangerous now that the government with the help of the corporate media has shifted the threat of terrorism from distant cave-dwelling Muslims to local “far right” extremists.

Part Human/Part Animal Hybrid Monsters Are Being Created By Scientists All Over The Planet

End of the American Dream

Crazed scientists all over the globe are "playing god" with the very building blocks of life. Today, thanks to extraordinary advances in the field of genetic modification, scientists are now able to do things that were once unthinkable. Part human/part animal hybrid monsters are being created by scientists all over the planet and it is all perfectly legal. Scientists justify mixing the DNA of humans and animals by claiming that it will help them "cure diseases" and "feed the world", but the reality is that all of this genetic modification is a tremendous threat to the human race. It is only a matter of time before humans start allowing themselves to be genetically-modified in order to "fight illness" or to "enhance" their abilities. The temptation to insert the genes of animals or plants into people in order to create "super soldiers" or a "superior race" will certainly prove to be much too tempting. Unless something is done to hold all of this back, it seems almost certain that genetic hell will be unleashed on the human race. Once genetically-modified humans start breeding with normal humans there will be no putting the genie back into the bottle. Eventually, we could get to the point where there are very few "100% humans" left. (Read More.....)

The Looting Of America: The Federal Reserve Made $16 Trillion In Secret Loans To Their Bankster Friends And The Media Is Ignoring The Eye-Popping Corruption That Has Been Uncovered

End of the American Dream

A one-time limited GAO audit of the Federal Reserve that was mandated by the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act has uncovered some eye-popping corruption at the Fed and the mainstream media is barely even covering it. It turns out that the Federal Reserve made $16.1 trillion in secret loans to their bankster friends during the financial crisis. You can read a copy of the GAO investigation for yourself right here. These loans only went to the "too big to fail" banks and to foreign financial institutions. Not a penny of these loans went to small banks or to ordinary Americans. Not only did the banksters get trillions in nearly interest-free loans, but the Fed actually paid them over 600 million dollars to help run the emergency lending program. The GAO investigation revealed some absolutely stunning conflicts of interest, and yet the mainstream media does not even seem interested. Solid evidence of the looting of America has been put right in front of us, and yet hardly anyone wants to talk about it. (Read More.....)

A Secret That Can Destroy Us...

Pandora's Box has surely been opened. A dangerous genetic experiment has come out of the shadows, and the human-animal hybrids, chimeras and other transgenic clones has produced now threaten to endanger and irrevocably alter life as we know it.

The controllers of elite-funded science and R&D have wantonly tampered with the genetic code of the planet, ignoring the rather obvious dangers posed by cross-species experimentation and flagrantly jeopardizing the earth's delicately-balanced biodiversity.

Fresh revelations about a "secret lab" program in the UK admittedly ongoing 'for the last three years' developing such bestial-hybrids only serves to reinforce our available data concerning the fact that genetically-modified laboratory creations are fast spinning out of control. Now the biotech industry has unleashed these Franken-breeds into the world under the auspices of monopolizing some of the most important and dangerous developments in Agra, Pharma and Medical research for the 21st Century. Their GM "solutions" to life's challenges promise lucrative returns, as we reported earlier today, due to their patented gene-expressions.

Transgenic clones, created by deleting-and-replacing DNA sequences to create a cross-species hybrid (xenotransplantation) that is then grown in a host egg, are becoming a pet-project of corporate science that offers 'Pharming's' promise of replacement organs for ailing humans, industrial and pharmaceutical applications of artificial-protein production, and the hope of successful outlets for artificial fertilization in an age of increasing sterility and infertility. However, it is these man-made creations that pose the greatest risks-- including contamination, proven links to sterility in offspring and risks of cancer. Many clones, including the world's famous first-cloned sheep, Dolly, have had conspicuously short lives and bad health. Arthritis, breathing problems and more have plagued their existence, while hundreds of embryos fail in cultivation for each successful clone. Still others die in the womb after only days, yet these entities are trusted to fulfill humanity's betterment.

In particular, mixing the human genome with that of various 'useful' animals crosses the extremely risky bridge formerly separating many beast-borne diseases from those that typically affect humans, or plant species for that matter. The contagion of mixing unrelated species like mammals and jellyfish genes gives the opportunity for unforeseen consequences and uncontrollable mutations. Further, many genes which scientists have previously believed to be equivalent have proven to behave differently when transplanted into foreign DNA sequences. Additionally, lack of recognition or compensation for pleiotropic genes (where a single gene gives expression for multiple traits) makes some of the consequences unforeseeable, yet predictably dangerous.

Grotesque experimentation iconically portrayed for more than a century in globalist H.G. Wells' The Island of Dr. Moreau has now come to life-- growing human ears on the backs of mice, harvesting human-marked organs from cows, pigs and other host-species, synthesizing strategic proteins in host-milk production and other seemingly-sci-fi applications pave the way to future biotechnology. Creations like spider-goats are raised in contradiction to nature's laws, all in the name of reaching industrial production of a stronger-than-steel protein from spider-silk that can create fibers for items like bullet-proof vests, sold directly to the military-prison-industrial complex, further feeding the total domination of mankind.

GMO species have become absolutely invasive, and their Doctors Frankenstein have unleashed them intentionally to wreck and destroy the native competing species. Crop contamination of non-GMO plants, combined with the genocidal effects of Terminator seeds is devastating to ordinary farmers. Consumption of GMO crops have proven ties in mice studies to sterility (shown to be delayed until the second or third generation) as well as cancer and other issues.

Powerful globalists have declared themselves God, and seek to limit the complex expression of life with cheap carbon-copy clones that threaten to displace the genuine flora, fauna and other life on this planet. Not long ago, the world's most prestigious scientists considered some 96% of DNA to be throwaway 'junk' with no genetic value. Now, in greater arrogance, they will make far greater mistakes as they pretend to understand the path to 'transhumanism' where man supposedly ascends to godhood and life extension. Humanity must stand up and say no before it is too late.

An email received by Infowars.com documents an “aggressive” effort by the Texas Department of Safety to recruit former members of the military.

The email consists of an internal memo sent to DPS employees. The information was not intended to be released to the citizens of Texas.

The DPS is responsible for statewide law enforcement and vehicle regulation. In addition to the Texas Highway Patrol and Emergency Management, the DPS is responsible for combating terrorism and organized crime, according to its website.

The memo is further evidence that Texas is actively militarizing its law enforcement. Other states are also “aggressively” militarizing law enforcement.

The federal government has actively militarized law enforcement since the 1990s...[Full Article]

Lemonade Freedom Day

On August 20 2011, Liberty activists from several regions will meet on the West lawn of the nations capitol in Washington DC from 12pm to 3pm to sell lemonade.

The simple childhood act of setting up a lemonade stand is no longer safe from the reaches of our overbearing monolithic government. The state does not want children taught how to run their own business or succeed without the help of the state. This was evidenced in Georgia when three girls had their summer dreams of raising money from a lemonade stand crushed by the state for not "providing a proper permit." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPKUUH7ytUo

We are here to stand in solidarity against this monolithic monster that calls itself the US government. We do not need your permission for something that is a fundamental right. The right to buy and sell is inherent, self evident, and something no man, no matter their uniform has the right to take away from us. So on August 20th we will stand as free men and women in front of the government's front yard and set up our own lemonade stand. If you can not make it to the nation's capitol to do this in "their front yard" then do so whereever you are. Peacefully and happilly assert yourself as a free person who does not need the state's permission to buy or sell. We will peacefully sell lemonade for a 10 cents a cup for all who consent to purchase. We will treat no person poorly in doing so. Nonetheless if we are apprehended by " law enforcement" aka the state, we are fully prepared to go to jail and turn this into an act of civil disobidience.

To all who do not wish to be arrested, don't worry you can still partake in the fun, just stand on the side bring a video camera or a simple 10 cents and enjoy a refreshing cup of lemonade on a warm summers day.
