Feinstein: Bill Bans Guns That Have Detachable Magazine and 'One Military Characteristic'

(CNSNews.com) – Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) opened a hearing Wednesday on proposed gun control legislation by highlighting some of what’s in Senate Bill 150, including any guns with “one military characteristic.”

“Let me now describe the key features of our new legislation, the ‘Assault Weapons Ban of 2013,’” said Feinstein, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. "The bill bans the sale, transfer, importation, and manufacturing of 157 specifically named semiautomatic assault weapons.

“It also bans any other assault weapon, which is defined as a semiautomatic weapon that can accept a detachable magazine and has one military characteristic, such as a pistol grip, barrel shroud, or folding stock,” Feinstein said. “These features were developed for military weapons to make them more effective and efficient at killing people in close-combat situations.” - See more at: http://cnsnews.com/news/article/feinstein-bill-bans-guns-have-detachable-magazine-and-one-military-characteristic#sthash.ZHXOAGFt.dpuf

NRA declares government will seize guns

Russia Today

The National Rifle Association claims it has obtained a Justice Apartment memo that notes President Obama’s gun control initiatives would be ineffective without seizing citizens' assault rifles and requiring a federal gun registration.

It's not clear how the NRA obtained a memo under the name of one of the Justice Department's leading crime researchers, but its authenticity has not neither been challenged by the White House nor Justice Department.

The NRA is using the memo in advertisements, zeroing in on the statement claiming that the success of universal background checks would depend on “requiring gun registration” and that gun buybacks would not work “unless massive and coupled with a ban.”

The memo also says that requiring background checks for gun purchases would not be enough to address gun violence and that it could lead to more unlawful weapons sales among those not able to pass or not willing to subject themselves to a background check.-[Full Article]

FBI agents caught sexting and dating drug dealers

UK Telegraph

Dating drug dealers, harassing ex-boyfriends with naked pictures, and pointing guns at pet dogs: these were just a few of the offences committed recently by serving FBI agents, according to internal documents.

Disciplinary files from the Bureau's Office of Professional Responsibility record an extraordinary range of transgressions that reveal the chaotic personal lives of some of America's top law enforcers.
One male agent was sacked after police were called to his mistress's house following reports of domestic incident. When officers arrived they found the agent "drunk and uncooperative" and eventually had to physically subdue him and wrestle away his loaded gun.
A woman e-mailed a "nude photograph of herself to her ex-boyfriend's wife" and then continued to harass the couple despite two warnings from senior officials. The Bureau concluded she was suffering from depression related to the break-up and allowed her to return to work after 10 days.-[Full Article]

13,753 Gov’t Requests for Google E-Mail Data in 2012, Most Without a Warrant

(CNSNews.com) - American government agencies – state, local, and federal -- made a record 13,753 requests to read emails or gather other information sent through Google’s Gmail and other services in 2012, more than half without warrants, according to statistics released by Google.

The total number of users about whom government agencies wanted information also set a record at 31,072, up from 23,300 in 2011, the first year Google began reporting the data. The discrepancy comes because government agencies request information on multiple users or accounts at the same time.-[Full Article]

Firearms Companies Restricting Sales To GOVERNMENT Agencies In Areas That Restrict Gun Rights

CNS News

A growing number of firearm and firearm-related companies have stated they will no longer sell items to states, counties, cities and municipalities that restrict their citizens' rights to own them.

According to The Police Loophole, 34 companies have joined in publicly stating that governments who seek to restrict 2nd Amendment rights will themselves be restricted from purchasing the items they seek to limit or ban.-[Full Article]

Ammo Prices Have Doubled Since December At 'America's Largest Gun Shop'

CNS News

The price of his store's ammunition has more than doubled since mid-December, says Larry Hyatt, owner of Hyatt Gun Shop in Charlotte, N.C., which bills itself "America's Largest Gun Shop."

I spoke to Mr. Hyatt today about the increase in the price of ammunition since mid-December (when the gun control debate began to heat up). Hyatt said that the ammo market is "very volatile" and that he "doesn't know when the next shipment will be."

His best seller right now is .22LR caliber.  Gun owners like to shoot this caliber because it is typically a cheaper round and also optimal for target shooting, known as "plinking".

A box containing 500 rounds of .22LR was selling for approximately $20/box back in December.  Today, Mr. Hyatt tells me he is selling the same box for $49.  This represents a 145 percent increase in price.-[Full Article]

This is How the DHS Seizes Your Guns

 [Originally posted at http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/02/robert-farago/this-is-how-the-dhs-seizes-your-guns/ ]

The Truth About Guns

 Department of Homeland Security logo
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently raided one of our readers: a kitchen table FFL dealer who does everything—everything—by the book. He has, however, consistently criticized the ATF for its unconstitutional regulations and long history of extra-legal activities. This is his story. Update to follow, after he consults with his lawyer . . .

First of all, forget about them coming to the door. They’ll intercept you on your way home from the Doctor’s office (for example), then one vehicle will come up behind you and two will block your way in front and turn on the flashing lights. They then jump out with ‘real’ assault rifles, point them at you and order your hands up, and exit the vehicle.  You, being a law abiding citizen, comply. At gunpoint, they order you to assume the position against your car, handcuffs you and frisk you, and you’re directed to get into the back seat. Then the lead agent gets into the driver seat and drives your car to your driveway. You sit there with cuffed hands behind you – bleeding.

As multiple vehicles close off the street and announce over a loudspeaker for all your neighbors to remain indoors (and are prohibited from leaving), the lead agent calls your house and directs your wife to come out of the house – and sit in the front seat. She does. Then the Homeland Security Special Tactical Unit, and the county sheriff Swat Team arrive, and drive two armored cars over the curb onto the lawn, as the “Jack Booted Thugs” with machine guns, helmets, boots, camo, etc. enter and search your house.

You see a Homeland Security Helocopter circling overhead. You are asked if you have any explosives (well, several cans of black powder….) and are there any booby traps in the house. They offer to let you read the search warrant, but your hands are cuffed behind your back. The agent in your car reads it very quickly.
After the Jack Booted Thugs are through, teams arrive to search and ransack the house. After about an hour, you are released and NO CHARGES are filed. You are required to stay beyond the perimeter as they set up tables in your yard and begin to paw through and process your worldly possessions.

You finally realize that they’re going to keep an eye on you, but you go to a neighbor to make phone calls – and find a good lawyer, who arrives on site, but is kept out by the agents. The agents search one of your cars and release it to you. Hours later, knowing there is nothing you can do on site, you leave and arrange a motel for the night.

Later, about 9PM (12 hours later), you phone your house and an agent answers, then advises you they’re about to leave. You drive to your house to see four Feds in your front yard, ready to leave. They tell you they don’t know where the house key is (which you gave them), nor where your cat is. They hand you a copy of the search warrant, but fail to provide a copy of the inventory (which they give you two days later).
You examine your house. Your computers are gone along with every extra & old hard drive, all data cds, floppies, thumb drives, compact flash drives, and other SD drives for your camera. But most shocking, is that your entire gun collection, which you spent a lifetime building, is gone.

Antique guns, airguns, non-guns. Virtually everything. One antique shotgun lies broken on the floor. Papers are strewn everywhere. Once they looked at it, and didn’t want it, they just tossed it aside. Piles of paper. The house is trashed – every room. Your clothing has been ransacked. Your wife’s clothing and underwear. You don’t even know what is missing. You look around, feel sick, lock up the house and go to the motel.
You return the next day to try to start to get things back in order, but realize it will take weeks.

Later, you find out that the affidavit which justified the search warrant is sealed – and you can’t even find out why they searched and seized. A few days later, the sworn affidavit is unsealed, and you find out that the agent lied repeatedly, told half-truths, speculated about possible violations, and related his ‘suspicions’ with no basis in fact – and that the search warrant is nothing more than a gigantic fishing expedition to see what they could find . . .

Texas 6th graders assigned to design flag for new socialist nation

Examiner.com

Sixth-grade children in many Texas public schools are being tasked with designing flags for a new socialist nation as part of the state's curriculum, EAG News reported Monday.

"Notice socialist/communist nations use symbolism on their flags representing various aspects of their economic system. Imagine a new socialist nation is creating a flag and you have been put in charge of creating a flag," says a lesson plan being used as part of CSCOPE, the curriculum being used by over 70 percent of Texas school districts.-[Full Article]

The U.S. Government Is Preparing For War Against The American People

Blacklisted News

At this point there should be very little doubt that the United States government is preparing to wage war against its own people. Earlier this week, news broke about how the Obama regime through the Department of Justice is claiming in a memorandum that they have the power to use drone strikes to kill American citizens under the guise of the so-called war on terror. In fact, the memorandum claims through the use of vague language that they have the power to kill Americans even if they do not have any sort of actionable intelligence confirming that they pose a threat. It has been proven time and time again that the war on terror is a hoax used as a tool to justify endless war and draconian anti-freedom policies domestically. The official story of nearly every alleged terror event that has transpired in the 21st century has been torn apart and criticized by many independent researchers. Not to mention, Al-Qaeda the shadowy terror organization we are constantly told that wants to kill Americans, actually originated from within American intelligence circles. We have also seen the United States, Israel and other Western governments financing and supporting Al-Qaeda type entities. Western support of Al-Qaeda linked rebel groups in both Libya and Syria is well documented and shows what a big joke the war on terror is.

It is no secret that the Department of Homeland Security was originally setup as a force to be used domestically against the American people. In the early 2000s, propaganda was used to sell the formation of this organization as a more effective way to protect the American people from Al-Qaeda. Over time this has been proven to be a complete and total lie considering all of their policies have been directed towards the American people instead of so-called foreign Al-Qaeda terrorists. They’ve left the border wide open, setup unconstitutional checkpoints at airports with naked body scanning devices and have even gone so far as to setup unlawful security checkpoints at bus stations, highways and train stations. In 2012 they purchased 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition and just recently ordered another 21.6 million rounds of ammunition to add to their stockpile. The amount of ammunition that they have ordered is enough to wage a war for many years. Since they are not a military organization and they are based domestically here in the United States, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that the ammunition is being stored in case they need to use it against the American people. This is all happening at the same time Congress is attempting to shove through several gun control laws that would restrict the average American from purchasing firearms and ammunition. Since the Obama regime and the assorted control freaks in Congress are attempting to dismantle the second amendment on every front, it is entirely hypocritical to see them purchase such a large amount of ammunition.-[Full Article]

U.S. Military Should Set Sights on Real Enemy

American Military Should Set Sights on Real Enemy Operating in Mexico
• CIA cooperation with drug cartels a dangerous threat to the future of the United States

By Keith Johnson

America’s war on drugs has been a catastrophic failure plagued with corruption scandals, unfulfilled promises and billions of taxpayer dollars wasted on a futile attempt to curb the flow of illegal narcotics into the United States. But could 2013 mark the beginning of a new era in which the United States military finally makes a sincere effort to address the clear and present danger emanating from just south of the border?

Probably not—but for what it’s worth—the Associated Press (AP) reports: “The Pentagon is stepping up aid for Mexico’s bloody drug war with a new U.S.-based special operations headquarters to teach Mexican security forces how to hunt drug cartels the same way special operations teams hunt al Qaeda, according to documents and interviews with multiple U.S. officials.”

The new training is reportedly set to take place at the U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and will expand on an existing program that schools Mexican military, intelligence and law enforcement officials on U.S. counter-terrorism tactics.

Pursuant to an authorization by outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, the lieutenant colonel who currently oversees the operation will be replaced by a general, and the number of people assigned to the new headquarters is expected to grow from 30 to 150.

Anonymous U.S. officials who spoke with AP “stress that sharing this expertise does not mean U.S. special operations teams will be conducting raids against targets in Mexico,” since Mexican law forbids U.S. armed forces from operating inside their country.

Although this may sound like a move in the right direction, there are still plenty of reasons to remain skeptical.

37 Food Items You Should Hoard

It should be noted that USNORTHCOM’s training missions are made possible through the Mérida Initiative of 2008, a $1.6B military aid package that was introduced during the Bush administration, and part and parcel of the Security and Prosperity Partnership’s (SPPs) plan to merge the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) with a militarized tri-national homeland security force. Under this arrangement, Mexico was required to adopt and maintain an aggressive counter-narcotic, counter-terrorism and border security strategy that adheres to a strict military model.

The six-year military crackdown on Mexico’s drug traffickers is certainly a testament to this agenda. However, “The evidence of policy failure is undisputed: 47K Mexicans dead since President Felipe Calderón took office in December 2006; the continuing flow of hundreds of tons of cocaine and thousands of tons of marijuana into the United States despite post-9-11 border controls and anti-immigration fences; and more than $20B in drug cash and many thousands of U.S. guns streaming south into Mexico each year,” writes Fulton T. Armstrong, senior fellow at American University’s Center for Latin American and Latino Studies.

In December 2012, newly elected Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto vowed to continue fighting all illegal drug production and trafficking in Mexico, but stressed that he will focus more on protecting ordinary citizens from gang violence rather than targeting drug cartel leaders.

This strategy could be seen by some as a departure from the accepted agenda and might explain why the U.S. is now offering advanced counter-terrorism training to their semi-reluctant ally. But even if Mexico’s new administration is persuaded to conform lockstep with U.S. objectives, will that really stem the tide of narcotics pouring into the U.S.?

During an August 2012 interview with this AMERICAN FREE PRESS reporter, former Drug Enforcement Administration agent Mike Levine stated, “The CIA and other intelligence agencies, right down to the Partnership for a Drug Free America, have a vested interest in maintaining a global drug problem. That’s what they live for. They pretty much rely on drug proceeds to fund their operations.”

History shows time and again that the U.S. is more concerned about “managing” the drug trade than actually fighting it and will often protect major drug traffickers who act as informants against less significant rivals. For example, in 2011, Vicente Zambada Niebla—a high-ranking member of the notorious Sinaloa drug cartel—claimed that federal agents granted him immunity and a virtual license to smuggle cocaine into the U.S. in exchange for intelligence on a comparatively minor cartel.

Until the U.S. cleans the corruption from its own ranks and strikes a decisive blow against Mexico’s major drug traffickers, winning the war on drugs will remain out of reach.

And it is a war worth winning. In the U.S. alone, illicit drug use kills nearly 20K Americans per year and “accounts for $181B in healthcare costs, productivity loss, crime, incarceration and drug enforcement,” according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

It’s time for the U.S. government to turn its powerful military might against America’s real enemies, rather than chasing down imaginary villains in the Middle East who pose no threat to our way of life.
