The UN International Arms Trade Treaty Conference (ATT) is wrapping up in New York, and their final draft is completed.
In 2009, Hillary Clinton, US Secretary of State, proudly announced that
the Obama administration was in full support of the ATT. It was the
intention of the US government to assist the UN in implementing and
establishing “common international standards for the import, export, and
transfer of conventional arms to help prevent the acquisition of arms
by terrorists, criminals, and those who violate human rights or are
subject to UN arms embargoes.”
Clinton stated that,
"the United States is prepared to work hard for a strong international
standard” concerning global gun control. “The United States is committed
to actively pursuing a strong and robust treaty that contains the
highest possible, legally binding standards for the international
transfer of conventional weapons.”
In 2010, the US began talks with the UN regarding the initial drafting of the ATT.
The United Nations is polishing up a global Arms Transfer Treaty
(ATT) this month in a New York convention that would create a global
registry of private ownership of firearms. This treaty — which would
also mandate creation of a national collection agency for those guns and
is contrary to the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment — has the
long-standing and enthusiastic backing of the Obama State Department, headed by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
“Conventional arms transfers are a crucial national security concern
for the United States, and we have always supported effective action to
control the international transfer of arms,” Hillary Clinton noted as
early as October 14, 2009. Clinton boasted that “the United States
regularly engages other states to raise their standards and to prohibit
the transfer or transshipment of capabilities to rogue states, terrorist
groups, and groups seeking to unsettle regions.” Of course, that speech
was delivered at the same time the Obama administration was
transferring some 2,000 small arms to Mexican drug gangs in the “Fast and Furious” gun-walking scandal.
The State Department website nevertheless absurdly continues to boast that
“The United States has in place an extensive and rigorous system of
controls that most agree is the 'gold standard' of export controls for
arms transfers.”
In view of such obviously false public statements, one may question the sincerity of Obama State Department promises about “redlines”
to the UN ATT, which supposedly protect the Second Amendment: “The
Second Amendment to the Constitution must be upheld. There will be no
restrictions on civilian possession or trade of firearms otherwise
permitted by law or protected by the U.S. Constitution. There will be no
dilution or diminishing of sovereign control over issues involving the
private acquisition, ownership, or possession of firearms, which must
remain matters of domestic law.” The Obama State Department also
promises “There will be no mandate for an international body to enforce
an ATT.”
So America's Second Amendment rights are safe, right?
UNITED NATIONS – A treaty being
hammered out this month at the United Nations -- with Iran playing a key
role -- could expose the records of America's gun owners to foreign
governments -- and, critics warn, eventually put the Second Amendment on
global trial.
International talks in New York are going on throughout July on the
final wording of the so-called Arms Trade Treaty, which supporters such
as Amnesty International USA say would rein in unregulated weapons that
kill an estimated 1,500 people daily around the world. But critics,
including the National Rifle Association’s Wayne LaPierre, warn the
treaty would mark a major step toward the eventual erosion of the U.S.
Constitution’s Second Amendment gun-ownership rights.
Americans “just don’t want the UN to be acting as a global nanny with
a global permission slip stating whether they can own a gun or not,”
LaPierre said. “It cheapens our rights as American citizens, and weakens
our sovereignty,” he warned in an exclusive interview with FoxNews.com from the halls of the UN negotiating chambers.

GENEVA — The UN human rights office called Friday on the US state of Texas to spare the life of a Mexican death row inmate convicted of rape and murder, as there were questions about whether he had a fair trial.
Humberto Leal Garcia, 38, is scheduled to die in Texas on July 7, but Mexico maintains he was not given proper consular access, a violation of the Vienna Convention.
Rupert Colville, spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, pointed out that the governor of Texas "has the power to commute the sentence to life imprisonment."

EXCLUSIVE:The United States, by far the leading contributor to the United Nations, overpaid its share of the U.N. peacekeeping budget for 2010-2011, but budget-cutters in Congress did not learn about the full extent of the credits in the U.S.’s favor until February 2011, during the battle with the Obama administration over 2011 budget cuts, Fox News has learned.

UN: food prices hit record high in February ROME (AP) - A U.N. food agency says that global food prices reached new highs in February and warns that oil price spikes could provoke further increases.
Skyrocketing food prices have been among the triggers for protests in Egypt, Tunisia and elsewhere and raised fears of a repeat of the food price crises in 2007 and 2008. Global oil prices have spiked on concerns about the potential impact of supply disruptions from Libya.
The Food and Agriculture Organization said in a statement Thursday that its food price index was up 2.2 percent last month, the highest in real and nominal terms since the agency started monitoring prices in 1990.
It was also the eighth consecutive month that food prices had risen. In January, the index had already registered a peak.
If House Republicans have their way, the U.S. may sever its fiscal support for the United Nations' climate group, reflecting the last lingering effects of the Climate-gate scandal that shook climate science and wobbled the world's confidence in the theory that man's actions are causing the planet to rapidly warm.

Police fired tear gas to disperse the demonstrators who accuse U.N. peacekeepers of bringing the disease to the Caribbean nation, where national elections are to be held on November 28, more than 10 months after a devastating earthquake.
Reports that Nepalese U.N. troops were the source of the raging cholera outbreak have angered many in the Western Hemisphere's poorest state, although the United Nations says there is no conclusive evidence to support this.
A patrol of U.N. troops in their traditional blue helmets withdrew hastily after they were pelted with stones by the demonstrators, who also tried to block streets with rocks and debris. The United Nations has long been one of the foremost world harbingers for the "New Spirituality" and the gathering "New World Order" based on ancient occult and freemasonic principles. Although she did not spell out clearly the identity of these 'three occult factors', she did reveal to her students that "Within the United Nations is the germ and seed of a great international and meditating, reflective group - a group of thinking and informed men and women in whose hands lies the destiny of humanity. This is largely under the control of many fourth ray disciples, if you could but realise it, and their point of meditative focus is the intuitional or Buddhic plane - the plane upon which all hierarchical activity is today to be found'. To this end, the Lucis Trust, under the leadership of Foster and Alice Bailey, started a group called 'World Goodwill' - an official non-governmental organization within the United Nations. The stated aim of this group is "to cooperate in the world of preparation for the reappearance of the Christ" [One Earth, the magazine of the Findhorn Foundation, October/November 1986, Vol. 6, Issue 6, p.24.]
But the esoteric work inside the UN does not stop with such recognized occult groupings. Much of the impetus for this process was initiated through the officership of two Secretary-Generals of the UN, Dag Hammarskjöld (held office: 1953-1961) and U Thant (held office: 1961-1971) who succeeded him, and one Assistant Secretary-general, Dr. Robert Muller. In a book written to celebrate the philosophy of Teilhard de Chardin (and edited by Robert Muller), it is revealed "Dag Hammarskjöld, the rational Nordic economist, had ended up as a mystic. He too held at the end of his life that spirituality was the ultimate key to our earthly fate in time and space". Sri Chinmoy, the New Age guru, meditation leader at the UN, wrote: "the United Nations is the chosen instrument of God; to be a chosen instrument means to be a divine messenger carrying the banner of God's inner vision and outer manifestation."
William Jasper, author of "A New World Religion" describes the religion of the UN: "...a weird and diabolical convergence of New Age mysticism, pantheism, aboriginal animism atheism, communism, socialism, Luciferian occultism, apostate Christianity, Islam, Taoism, Buddhism, and Hinduism".

UNITED NATIONS — A top UN panel on Friday called for increased taxes on carbon emissions and air and sea transport to raise 100 billion dollars a year for poor nations to combat climate change.
The group led by the prime ministers of Norway and Ethiopia also proposed a tax on international financial transactions for a UN fund aiming to be ready by 2020.
The panel -- which also included finance ministers and financier George Soros -- was set up at last year's acrimonious Copenhagen climate summit and its proposals will get a first international airing at the UN climate conference in Cancun, Mexico starting at the end of the month...
A ‘worldwide climate change fund’ has been discussed for years as a way of helping vulnerable countries cope with floods and droughts caused by temperature rise.
Now the radical idea has moved a step closer with a high level report from the United Nations about how the money will be raised.
The High Level Advisory Group on Climate Finance suggested the money should be raised through a combination of public and private sources.
The group, chaired by the Prime Ministers of Ethiopia and Norway, said money could be raised indirectly from taxing polluting transport and industry. For example a tax on international flights and carbon taxes on factories or fuel that are ultimately passed onto the consumer.
The group, that included the economist Lord Nicholas Stern and the financier George Soros, also suggested money could be raised from the private sector. For example by selling bonds that are paid back over time.
However it was made clear that a ‘Robin Hood Tax’ on financial transactions is unlikely because some rich countries are against it and not all the money would go to climate change...
