Rep. Walter B. Jones Jr., R-N.C., has introduced a resolution declaring that should the president use offensive military force without authorization of an act of Congress, “it is the sense of Congress” that such an act would be “an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor.”

Specifically, Article I, Section 8, of the Constitution reserves for Congress alone the power to declare war, a restriction that has been sorely tested in recent years, including Obama’s authorization of military force in Libya.

In an exclusive WND column, former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo claims that Jones introduced his House Concurrent Resolution 107 in response to startling recent comments from Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.

“This week it was Secretary of Defense Panetta’s declaration before the Senate Armed Services Committee that he and President Obama look not to the Congress for authorization to bomb Syria but to NATO and the United Nations,” Tancredo writes. “This led to Rep. '60 Minutes' on " Honest Graft'

CBS' 60 Minutes went after Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), and Financial Services Committee Chairman Spencer Bachus (R-Ala.) in a Sunday story covering allegations of insider trading and "soft corruption" by powerful members of Congress.

60 Minutes based its report, which also focused on former Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and ex-Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), on research by Peter Schweizer, a fellow at the conservative Hoover Institution. Schweizer said he and his team of eight student researchers found "forms of honest graft" by lawmakers.

"So it's not illegal, but I think it's highly unethical, I think it's highly offensive, and wrong," Schweizer told 60 Minutes of what he discovered.

Schweizer was a speechwriting consultant for former President George W. Bush and helped write a book with conservative commentator Glenn Beck. He is also listed as the editor of website run by conservative journalist Andrew Breitbart. Schweizer's official bio at the Hoover Institution says he is a "former consultant to NBC News" and has "also served as a member of the Ultraterrorism Study Group at the U.S. government's Sandia National Laboratory."

The allegations regarding Bachus, Hastert and Gregg covered by 60 Minutes are several years old and have received extensive media coverage already.

Bachus, as ranking member of the Financial Services Committee, traded stock options for General Electric, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and Sony, among others in the midst of the 2008 U.S. financial crisis. Bachus was getting briefed by top officials at the Treasury Department and Federal Reserve about the impending collapse of the American financial markets. His stock trades, which were first reported on by the Wall Street Journal in April 2010, netted the Alabama Republican about $28,000, according to his financial disclosure reports.

Bachus told 60 Minutes that he "never trades on non public information, or financial services stocks," although GE has a large financial unit.

Boehner bought health-care stocks in 2009 shortly before the "public option" -- universal health care -- was dropped from the Democratic health care bill. Boehner said his financial adviser oversees all such decisions.

I've repeatedly pointed out that Wall Street executives are incentivized to lie, cheat and steal. So - of course - they will continue to lie, cheat and steal.

I've repeatedly noted that Wall Street owns the politicians:

• Lobbyists from the financial industry have paid hundreds of millions to Congress and the Obama administration. They have bought virtually all of the key congress members and senators on committees overseeing finances and banking. The Congress people who receive the most money from lobbyists are the most opposed to regulation. See this, this, this, this, this, this, and this.

• Obama received more donations from Goldman Sachs and the rest of the financial industry than almost anyone else

• Summers and the rest of Obama's economic team have made many millions - even in the first few months of being appointed, or right beforehand - from the financial industry

• Two powerful congressmen said that banks run Congress

• Two leading IMF officials, the former Vice President of the Dallas Federal Reserve, and the the head of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City have all said that the United States is controlled by an oligarchy

The chairman of the Department of Economics at George Mason University (Donald J. Boudreaux) says that it is inaccurate to call politicians prostitutes. Specifically, he says that they are more correct to call them "pimps", since they are pimping out the American people to the financial giants:

Real whores, after all, personally supply the services their customers seek. Prostitutes do not steal; their customers pay them voluntarily. And their customers pay only with money belonging to these customers.

In contrast, members of Congress routinely truck and barter with other people's property...

Members of Congress are less like whores than they are like pimps for persons unwillingly conscripted to perform unpleasant services.

Politicians force taxpayers to pony it up -- just as the services rendered for a pimp's customers are rendered not by that pimp personally, but by the ladies under his charge. The pimp pockets the bulk of each payment; he's pleased with the transaction. His customer gets serviced well in return; he's pleased with the transaction. The only loser is the prostitute forced to share her precious assets with strangers whom she doesn't particularly care for and who care nothing for her.

Also like the ladies under pimps' power, taxpayers who resist being exploited risk serious consequences to their persons and pocketbooks. Uncle Sam doesn't treat kindly taxpayers who try to avoid the obligations that he assigns to them. Government is a great deal more powerful, and often nastier, than is the typical taxpayer. Practically speaking, the taxpayer has little choice but to perform as government demands.

So to call politicians "whores" is to unduly insult women who either choose or who are forced into the profession of prostitution. These women aggress against no one; like all other respectable human beings, they do their best to get by as well as they can without violating other people's rights.

The real villains in the prostitution arena are those pimps who coerce women into satisfying the lusts of strangers. Such pimps pocket most of the gains earned by the toil and risks involuntarily imposed upon the prostitutes they control. No one thinks this arrangement is fair or justified. No one gives pimps the title of "Honorable." Decent people don't care what pimps think or suppose that pimps have any special insights into what is good or bad for the women under their command. Decent people don't pretend that pimps act chiefly for the benefit of their prostitutes. Decent people believe that pimps should be in prison.

Yet Americans continue to imagine that the typical representative or senator is an upstanding citizen, a human being worthy of being feted and listened to as if he or she possesses some unusually high moral or intellectual stature.

It's closer to the truth to see politicians as pimps who force ordinary men and women to pony up freedoms and assets for the benefit of clients we call "special-interest groups."

Establishment Republicans Omit Crucial Passage in Constitution Reading Stunt

The Constitution reading stunt performed by establishment Republicans designed to placate a co-opted Tea Party fizzled Thursday when Congress critters failed to recite the entire document. It is rather interesting to note what part they left out.

“Democrats asked why original sections that later were amended, including references to slaves, were left out of the recital, and lawmakers initially did not catch that a couple of key paragraphs were omitted when two pages got stuck together,” reports the Associated Press.

Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., the organizer of the stunt, later admitted the omission and returned to the House floor and read the missing part into the Congressional Record.

Republicans had earlier failed to read Article IV and Article V.

Section 4 of Article IV reads as follows: “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.”

In the Southwest, the United States is currently experiencing not only an unprecedented invasion of illegal immigrants, but the unrestricted flow of slave traders and drug smugglers. The United States government has not addressed this problem and has failed to protect the states.

This invasion and the spill-over of violence from the Mexican narco state represents “domestic violence” against the American people.

Some scholars and historians argue that Section 4 is the most significant part of the Constitution. It was the motivating force behind the delegates convening in Philadelphia in 1787. They wanted to create a federal government capable of protecting the people from foreign invasion and violent threats from within.

Alexander Hamilton considered domestic dangers “more alarming than the arms and arts of foreign nations.”

In addition, the federal government, under the rule of both Democrats and Republicans, has not guaranteed to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government.

In fact, the federal government has worked tirelessly to eradicate the republicanism of the states and has supplanted it with creeping federalism. This process began with the Lincoln administration during the so-called Civil War (otherwise known as the War of Northern Aggression) and has increased significantly over the last fifty or so years.

Maybe those pages did stick together as claimed. Maybe they were intentionally omitted.

Regardless of the explanation, the fact remains that the federal government and rule by Republicans and Democrats threatens the states and undermines the Constitution.

The international banksters and their coterie of globalists are sworn enemies of the Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights. Globalism demands not only the elimination of the states, but also national borders and sovereignty.

It is no mistake the federal government has failed to live up to Section 4 of Article IV and has allowed an unchecked tidal wave of illegal immigrants and criminals to cross the border.

It is an integral part of the globalist agenda.

Earlier this week, in holding a hearing with the head of the TSA, our congressional representatives didn't seem too concerned about the public complaints about TSA security procedures: the naked scans and the gropings. Want to know why? Perhaps it's because, on the rare occasions that they fly commercial, they get to skip security. The NY Times notes that Speaker of the House John Boehner (who does regularly fly commercial) got to walk right by security and go directly to the gate. In defending this, Michael Steel, head of the Republican party pointed out that this is true of all Congressional leaders -- which doesn't make it any better.

On Friday, the GOP's John Boehner was guided past the metal detectors and hand inspections given to other passengers on his flight home to Ohio.

Boehner's spokesman Michael Steel said his boss followed procedures set by Capitol Police and the Transportation Security Administration. Steel said the same rules apply to other congressional leaders.

Furor over airline passenger checks has grown with more airports installing full-body digital scanners and TSA adding a more intrusive pat-down for those opting out of the scans.

Boehner, R-Ohio, has pledged to fly commercial airlines back to his home district.

Maybe it would make you feel better to know that most members of Congress have to endure them, too.

While newly elected House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, caused some raised eyebrows Friday when he was allowed to bypass the security line at Reagan National Airport in Washington, members of Indiana's congressional delegation say they stand in line like everyone else.

"I always do," said Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind. "Every time, including body scans, pat-downs -- whatever they've got going on."

"As a matter of fact," he joked, "as far as I can tell, members of Congress are in a suspect class. And I think the public would probably agree we may be an additional security risk."

If there's some special way to avoid the security, he said, "they've been hiding it from me for 12 years."

For Boehner, the ticket around the full-body scanner and the pat-down was having a security detail with him. Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said his boss followed procedures set by Capitol Police and the Transportation Security Administration. Steel said the same rules apply to other congressional leaders.

According to the TSA, a government official traveling with an approved federal law enforcement security detail isn't required to undergo security screening.

Without that security detail, though, members of Congress are supposed to be treated like everyone else.

Mark Helmke, a spokesman for Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., said Lugar has to take off his shoes, belt, tie clip and other metal objects just like other travelers.

With Indianapolis International Airport among the first to use the new body scanners, "he has become very familiar with them," Helmke said.

Spokesmen for U.S. Reps. Dan Burton, R-Ind., and Andre Carson, D-Ind., said the congressmen endure the same security as the rest of the flying public. Josh Gillespie, Burton's spokesman, said the same is true of other officials. Recently, Gillespie said, he saw new U.S. Attorney Joe Hogsett at the airport, going through the same security procedures he was.

Traficant gets OK to run for old seat as indie

(CNN) - Former Rep. James Traficant gets to run for his old congressional seat after all.

In early July, the Ohio Democrat - who spent seven years in prison on a bribery and racketeering conviction - fell about 100 names short of the necessary number of signatures needed to launch an independent bid as a candidate in Ohio's 17th congressional district.

But the Mahoning County Board of Elections on Monday night determined that Traficant had secured 11 more petition signatures than he needed to qualify as a candidate. The announcement was reported by local media. The decision followed a summer long battle by Traficant supporters to get the former congressman's name on the ballot.

The required number of signatures needed is 2,154, or one percent of the total votes cast in the district in the 2006 Ohio gubernatorial election.

The former eight-term congressman, who represented Youngstown and its surrounding suburbs, told CNN in March he intended to run as an independent because, "I see the Democrats are completely controlled by foreign interests and big lobbying money - the republicans are too, but the Democrats more so."...
