The UN General Assembly’s First Committee on Disarmament Meeting
held this week decided that their plans for finalizing the Arms Trade

Treaty, as long as it “operates under the rules of consensus
decision-making. Consensus is needed to ensure the widest possible
support for the Treaty and to avoid loopholes in the Treaty that can be
exploited by those wishing to export arms irresponsibly.”
The Obama administration is in full support of the ATT. Both Susan Rice, US ambassador to the UN and Clinton said in a letter that they “strongly urge the United States to take a leadership role in pushing for a strong, verifiable Arms Trade Treaty.”-[Full Article]
