(CNN) -- A man was arrested in eastern China after police say he fatally stabbed eight people, including three family members, state-run media reported Sunday.
The suspect, identified by the Xinhua news agency as Zhou Yezhong, is accused of killing his wife, mother, daughter, four neighbors and a migrant worker with a knife Saturday night in Jishui County, Jiangxi Province, police told the state-run news agency.
An investigation into the killings is under way, Xinhua said.
No other details were immediately available.
The stabbings come after a spate of similar attacks at schools, including one late last month in which a knife-wielding assailant injured at least 28 children.
