Mexico Tries To Tackle "Virtual Kidnapping"

On a Saturday morning this February, Rosario Garcia picked up her cell phone and heard the sound Mexicans have come to fear most: the scream of a loved one in trouble.

"Mom, help me! Something horrible has happened," said a voice so like that of her 33-year-old daughter that Rosario was sure it was she.

"Paula, is that you?" she asked, panicked.

"They have me in a car. I've been kidnapped," answered the voice. Then a man came on the phone.

"If you don't give us what we want we're going to kill your daughter, Paula," he said. As he spoke, Rosario could hear what she assumed was her daughter pleading for mercy in the background.

Then she heard something else, something impossible.

"Dad, help me!" the woman said. But Paula's father had died years before. The girl on the phone wasn't Paula. The kidnapping was a fake. Shaken nonetheless, Rosario hung up.

Experts say that since the practice began nine years ago, as many as 20 million Mexicans like Rosario have fallen victim to such "virtual kidnappings" - an effective extortion technique in a country where real kidnappings are a common occurrence. The procedure is simple: a phone call, a scream and a plea for help, and a demand for money or financial information before a bewildered parent even has a chance to check on the child...
CIA Director Tells Cap-To-Cap Delegates: Cyber Attack Could Be Next "Pearl Harbor"

WASHINGTON D.C.—Central Intelligence Agency director Leon Panetta told 300 Sacramento Metro Chamber Cap-to-Cap delegates that the next “Pearl Harbor” is likely to be an attack on the United States’ power, financial, military and other Internet systems.

Panetta addressed the Sacramento delegation that includes 43 elected officials and hundreds of business and civic leaders who are in Washington D.C. for the annual program that advocates for the region’s most pressing policy issues. He spoke on Monday, April 19, during the Cap-to-Cap opening breakfast.

“Cyber terrorism” is a new area of concern for the CIA, Panetta said. The United States faces thousands of cyber attacks daily on its Internet networks. The attacks are originating in Russia, China, Iran and from even hackers.

“The next Pearl Harbor is likely to be a cyber attacking going after our grid…and that can literally cripple this country,” Panetta said. “This is a whole new area of threat.”...

Climate Scientist, Heated Up Over Satirical Video, Threatens Lawsuit

The Penn State climate professor who has silently endured investigations, hostile questioning, legislative probes and attacks by colleagues has finally spoken out. He says he'll sue the makers of a satirical video that's a hit on You Tube.

Their response: Bring it on.

Michael Mann, one of the central figures in the recent climate-data scandal, is best known for his "hockey stick graph," which was the key visual aid in explaining how the world is warming at an alarming rate and in connecting the rise to the increase in use of carbon fuels in this century. E-mails stolen from a university in England were released online, revealing exchanges between climatologists and a reference to a "trick" that Mann had used to get the graph to portray what global warming scientists wanted to see.

The parody video, titled "Hide the Decline," had more than 500,000 viewers on YouTube and received national attention when Rush Limbaugh played it on his radio show. It features a cat with a guitar, a talking tree, and a dancing figure sporting the image of Professor Mann. It's the use of his image that Mann is complaining about, arguing that the video supports "efforts to sell various products and merchandise."

"The guy is crazy to threaten legal action," said Jeff Davis, the President of No Cap and Trade, a large organization that includes the group Mann is threatening to sue, Minnesotans for Global Warming. "A lawsuit would give us full discovery -- and there's a lot to look at in his work."...

Homosexual rumors surrounding Senator Lindsey Graham underscore the core reason why the vast majority of Congress members habitually support legislation that is anathema to the interests of the people they are supposed to represent, because politicians rarely achieve positions of influence without being beholden to one form of blackmail or another.

ALIPAC’s William Gheen provoked national headlines last week during a speech in front of thousands of Tea Party supporters when he publicly requested that Graham come out of the closet and admit that he is gay.

“William Gheen called on Senator Lindsey Graham to be honest with American voters about his homosexual lifestyle to assure that Graham’s desire to keep it a secret could no longer be potentially used by political insiders to manipulate Graham’s behavior,” reports Before It’s News. “There are many precedents in American politics where affairs, corruption, addictions, and other situations that politicians wanted concealed were used to manipulate them with unfair advantage.”...

Kissinger In 2008: There Will Be "Bipartisan" Push For New World Order, Whoever Is Elected President

In Jason Bermas’ film “Invisible Empire: A New World Order Defined”, the concept of one world government has been definitively elaborated upon, its long-term objectives explained in detail. One of the chief proponents of the destruction of national sovereignty appearing in the documentary, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, has been heard on countless occasions quite openly calling for the emergence of the New World Order. Of course a child knows that in order to bring about a new structure, one has to first tear down the old one.

At the 2008 Montreal Conference of the Americas, sponsored by UNESCO and other transnational leviathans, Kissinger not only reaffirmed the mantra held sacred by the global elite, namely that national sovereignty is a thing of the past and all efforts should now be concentrated on ceding it on the altar of globalism. Moreover, he admitted to the fact that there is a like-minded cabal pushing the destruction of nation-states worldwide. It is unnecessary to mention, that the same objective was cherished by every tyrant over the last thousand year or longer. Kissinger’s speech (speech accessible through link provided) “The Americas and the World” sums up quite clearly the prime goal that all transnational bodies of power are working towards.

Airmen To Live Out Their Careers In Cyberspace

ORLANDO, Fla. — Air Force officials anticipate a world in which every recruit receives an avatar upon joining the service.

These avatars would follow airmen through their entire careers, earning promotions and educational credits and even moving with them to new offices and bases.

This would take place in simulated worlds that mirror the service’s actual facilities.
“Everyone who comes into the Air Force will be given an avatar, and that avatar travels with them, grows with them, changes appearance with them,” said Larry Clemons, of the Air Education and Training Command. “It will provide them a history of where they’ve been and a notion of where they’re going.”

It’s part of the Air Force’s MyBase program, a plan to modernize the service’s education and marketing initiatives. The effort dates back to early 2008, when Air Education and Training Command released a paper outlining next-generation learning environments complete with virtual worlds, online classes and aggressive outreach strategies involving webcam chats with potential recruits and online contract forms.

The initiative is still in its test stages, and officials later will decide whether to carry it out in full.

The Air Force has already launched the marketing campaign component of MyBase. At this year’s Defense GameTech Users’ Conference, Clemons took audience members on a tour of the service’s publicly available cyberhub, a mock base where it hopes to attract new recruits.

The base exists in Second Life, a virtual world that is inhabited by millions of avatars controlled by the program’s users. It was created in 2003 by a company called Linden Lab. The Air Force now owns 12 regions of Second Life land — which is sold on a real estate market for real-life dollars...
Senate Panel Previews Electronic Health Technology

The effort, loosely called e-Health or e-Care, combines health-care technology with 21st-century Internet connectivity. It will allow doctors to interact with their patients through innovations such as video chats, telephone health checkups, and home-health monitoring devices that relay data over wireless Internet connections.

“The development of the broadband network and health information technologies has the potential to truly transform health care and simultaneously enable better outcomes and lowering costs,” said Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine).

One of the new health technologies on display last Thursday was an automatic drug dispenser that can monitor and adjust medication dosages wirelessly, allowing doctors to tailor dosages of drugs such as insulin without having to schedule in-person visits with patients.

“What we’re talking about, folks, is using a device like this one,” Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) said, as he displayed the small device. “It attaches to the patient’s skin and is loaded with drugs that are administered in the exact way that the doctor prescribes – wirelessly.

“That means that a doctor can vary the doses based on the information the doctor is receiving [from the monitor]. The patient doesn’t have to go in to the doctor and then the pharmacy to change his or her prescription,” he said.

The data recorded by such devices would be automatically uploaded to a patient’s electronic health record, which could then be reviewed by a doctor from a computer or smart phone, allowing the doctor to monitor a sick patient in almost real time...

The McVeigh Tapes: A Fairy Tale Designed To Demonize The Patriot Movement

On the fifteenth anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing, MSNBC ran a documentary supposedly detailing Timothy McVeigh’s death row “confession.” The documentary — actually a fairy tale of easily debunked government propaganda hosted by the “progressive” Rachel Maddow — employs alleged tape recordings of McVeigh coupled with cheesy computer simulations intended to dredge up the government version of events and thus rekindle hysteria manufactured in the 1990s concerning the threat posed by militias and patriot groups.

The McVeigh Tapes aired on April 19, 2010. Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9, Part 10, Part 11, Part 12.

The documentary omits a large amount of evidence that seriously undermines the government version repeated and amplified by the corporate media, including:

McVeigh said he was attacking the government in response to Waco, and yet no BATF or FBI agents were killed or injured and badge carrying federal agents were mysteriously absent from the Alfred E. Murrah building on the morning of the attack. “Why were all BATF personnel away from their desks on a regular weekday morning? Did someone tip them off in advance?” asks Steven Yates.

U.S. Judge Wayne Alley had an office in the Murrah Building. He was tipped off by the Justice Department that there would be a terrorist attack on a federal building. Judge Alley’s statement about this was published in the Portland Oregonian. The Oklahoma City Fire Department was also allegedly warned by the FBI the weekend before the attack.

If we are to believe MSNBC’s crude propaganda, McVeigh acted alone on the morning of the attack. And yet more than 70 witnesses claimed to have seen Timothy McVeigh on the day of the explosion with others conveniently excluded from the MSNBC presentation...
