Computer expert says US behind Stuxnet worm

A German computer security expert said Thursday he believes the United States and Israel's Mossad unleashed the malicious Stuxnet worm on Iran's nuclear program.

"My opinion is that the Mossad is involved," Ralph Langner said while discussing his in-depth Stuxnet analysis at a prestigious TED conference in the Southern California city of Long Beach.

"But, the leading source is not Israel... There is only one leading source, and that is the United States."

There has been widespread speculation Israel was behind the Stuxnet worm that has attacked computers in Iran, and Tehran has blamed the Jewish state and the United States for the killing of two nuclear scientists in November and January...[Full Article]

Fuel Prices Sore-ing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Gas prices have recorded their biggest one week increase since Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

“It’s totally ridiculous, man,” said Anthony Pollard. He is feeling the pinch at the pump, like many other motorists. “I’m putting $50 in here today. And that’ll probably get me half a tank.”

Pollard owns a Chevy pickup. His other vehicle is a gas-guzzling Lincoln and he refuses to drive that until prices come back down, which may not be anytime soon.

AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Rick Remington says prices jumped 21-22 cents nationally and 18 cents in the Delaware Valley over the past week.

Remington says there’s a lot of volatility out there, so drivers would be wise to shop around.

“We’re seeing prices vary from $3.14 in South Jersey to $3.50 in Philadelphia. So within about a 15-20 minute drive, quite a spread.”

9/11 firefighter dies of cancer linked to toxic dust

New York (CNN) -- Firefighter Randy Wiebicke who, like so many New York City firefighters, toiled in and around ground zero in the months after 9/11, died Wednesday following a nearly three-year battle with multiple myeloma, an aggressive and fatal blood cancer.

Wiebicke underwent an experimental stem cell transplant procedure last summer, when his cancer was in remission. But just two months after the transplant, he developed viral infections that, ultimately, his weakening body could no longer fight.

Wiebicke's wife, Madeline, said Randy was "a man who lived his life in the spirit of what being a firefighter meant to him. When others were in danger, running out of a burning building, he was there to run in," she wrote in an e-mail. "He lived his life beautifully, in a way that inspired everyone around him. Having Randy around not only made you want to be a better person, but it showed you how to get there," she wrote.

Hundreds of firefighters and other ground zero workers have died of cancer in the years following the attack on the World Trade Center, according to New York state health officials. So far, however, doctors have been reluctant to link those cancers to 9/11, saying that most cancers take longer than nine years to develop.

But a 2009 study published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine suggested a link between the type of cancer Wiebicke had and exposure to the toxic dust at ground zero. Arrest of CIA's Davis in Pak Confirms Illuminati Behind Terror

The recent arrest of CIA agent Raymond Davis in Pakistan reveals that Davis was working with with terrorist groups.

COLD BLOODED MURDERER

Last month, Davis was driving through the busy streets of Lahore when two young Pakistani men on motorbikes drove past him. He opened fire on the men, shooting them in the back through his windscreen. He then got out of his vehicle, walked over to the injured cyclists and pumped five bullets into each man.

Knowing he was in trouble, Davis phoned for reinforcements but by the time they arrived, outraged local Pakistanis blocked his escape and secured his arrest.

At the police station, Davis claimed he was being robbed and had acted in self-defense. However, Pakistani police searched his car and found a make-up kit, long-range radio, a GPRS system and a cell phones containing photographs of sensitive target locations. He's a CIA agent.

Obama has claimed that Davis is an American diplomat entitled to diplomatic immunity. However, the US blundered their story from the beginning, first claiming he was an 'employee of the US Consulate General Lahore' and then later a member of the 'administrative and technical staff of the US Embassy Islamabad'.

Then Davis claimed he worked for a security firm called Hyperion LLC, under a contract with the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan. But the BBC reported that Hyperion exists only as a website, and its offices in Orlando have been vacant for several years. The numbers on its website are unlisted. i.e. it is a CIA front.

Burnsville Police First To Use Body Cameras

BURNSVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) — The Burnsville Police Department was the first law enforcement agency in the state to use body cameras when it started equipping officers with the technology last summer.

Officers credit the video tool for helping them capture a much better image of what is going on when they are out on the streets. They have also helped clear cases of allegations of police misconduct in a matter of minutes instead of several weeks.

Officer Shaun Anselment said he can’t imagine going out on patrol without his video tool.

“We are able to get the true emotions at the scene,” he said. “We are able to see what officers did, what suspects did.”

Anselment said he is happy to show video, which goes into a computer on his belt, to someone he has stopped for a traffic violation. In one case, a woman denied she ran a stop sign.

“I said, ‘Ma’am, here’s what happened.’ She apologized and went on her way,” he said.

Student files lawsuit over FBI's GPS tracking

WASHINGTON (AP) - A community college student who says he's never done anything that should attract the interest of federal law enforcement officials filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the FBI for secretly putting a GPS tracking device on his car.

Yasir Afifi, 20, says a mechanic doing an oil change on his car in October discovered the device stuck with magnets between his right rear wheel and exhaust. They weren't sure what it was, but Afifi had the mechanic remove it and a friend posted photos of it online to see whether anyone could identify it. Two days later, Afifi says, agents wearing bullet-proof vests pulled him over as he drove away from his apartment in San Jose, Calif., and demanded their property back...[Full Article]

Giving Transportation Security Administration agents a peek under your clothes may soon be a practice that goes well beyond airport checkpoints. Newly uncovered documents show that as early as 2006, the Department of Homeland Security has been planning pilot programs to deploy mobile scanning units that can be set up at public events and in train stations, along with mobile x-ray vans capable of scanning pedestrians on city streets.

The non-profit Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) on Wednesday published documents it obtained from the Department of Homeland Security showing that from 2006 to 2008 the agency planned a study of of new anti-terrorism technologies that EPIC believes raise serious privacy concerns. The projects range from what the DHS describes as “a walk through x-ray screening system that could be deployed at entrances to special events or other points of interest” to “covert inspection of moving subjects” employing the same backscatter imaging technology currently used in American airports.

The 173-page collection of contracts and reports, acquired through a Freedom of Information Act request, includes contracts with Siemens Corporations, Northeastern University, and Rapiscan Systems. The study was expected to cost more than $3.5 million...[Full Article]

UN: food prices hit record high in February

ROME (AP) - A U.N. food agency says that global food prices reached new highs in February and warns that oil price spikes could provoke further increases.

Skyrocketing food prices have been among the triggers for protests in Egypt, Tunisia and elsewhere and raised fears of a repeat of the food price crises in 2007 and 2008. Global oil prices have spiked on concerns about the potential impact of supply disruptions from Libya.

The Food and Agriculture Organization said in a statement Thursday that its food price index was up 2.2 percent last month, the highest in real and nominal terms since the agency started monitoring prices in 1990.

It was also the eighth consecutive month that food prices had risen. In January, the index had already registered a peak.
